This abstract oil and cold wax painting on a copper plate features rich, earthy tones of deep reds, oranges and hints blacks. The textured surface, intersected by thin, glowing yellow lines, gives some the impression. of molten lava, glowing embers, or a rugged and scorched landscape.  Swirling patterns and organic shapes contribute to a sense of movement, while the rich black areas create a striking contrast against the vibrant background. The composition includes delicately etched lines created by scratching through the paint to reveal the copper beneath, adding additional contrast and interest. The use of copper adds a unique sheen and depth, enhancing the sense of richness and complexity. 

This piece may evoke intense emotions related to chaos or destruction. The raw energy in the painting my stir feelings of awe, unease, or curiosity and encourage contemplation as the image draws the viewer into its dramatic and powerful atmosphere.  

Notes:  This small work evoked memories of the beads  in the bead curtain (it was the 60’s after all) that hung between the dining room and living room. I was scolded if I got caught touching them, but it was the cats that did them in.
